Micro Insurance is defined as the pooling of resources among groups of women and men that are excluded from formal social protection mechanisms and that usually belong to the same community, to share their risks (illness, birth, death, accidents etc). A micro insurance scheme can offer a wide range of services against various risks including coverage plans in health and life, loan protection, child and maternity protection (pre and post natal care), asset protection, livestock protection, etc.
